The 2nd PhD Meeting in Plant Science (2PMPS) is an international meeting organized by and for PhD students and young postdocs that will be held Online on the 6th of July as a satellite activity of the XXIV Meeting of the Spanish Society of Plant Biology / XVII Spanish Portuguese Congress of Plant Biology (BP2021).

The 2PMPS is a biannual event focused on early-career researchers in plant science and organized with two main objectives:

1.  To offer young researchers the opportunity to present their work.
2.  To discuss and network with other PhD students and young postdocs working in similar fields.

With this purpose, there will not be a group of keynote speakers from academia or industry, turning our meeting into a perfect occasion to discuss and present our work in a relaxed environment. Therefore, we believe that this will encourage the interaction and exchange of ideas and contacts among young researchers from different countries.

During the meeting, selected PhD students and young postdocs are invited to give oral presentations, flash talks, or poster presentations. All the abstracts will be reviewed by a Scientific Committee (also formed by early-career researchers), who will select oral presentations with some input from a senior Advisory Committee.

PROGRAMME

The 2PMPS will be divided into the following sessions:

1. Growth and Development.
2. Metabolism and Biochemistry.
3. Interaction of Plants with the Environment.
4. Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology.

For each session, up to 2 oral communications and several flash talks will be selected. There will also be two poster sessions. A more detailed program will be provided once oral communications and flash talks are defined. It will start at 09:00 and the hour of estimate closure will be at 19:30 (UTC+02:00).

INVITED SPEAKERS

Lindsay Williams, PhD student at the Spoel lab, University of Edinburg, UK. Talk: "Post-harvest immunity: how the salad in your fridge is fighting for its life".

Melanie Abt, PhD at the Zeeman lab, ETH Zürich, Switzerland. Talk: "Starch granule biogenesis: New players and new approaches".

Sana Dieudonné, PhD student at the Reproduction et Développement des Plantes (RDP) lab, ENS de Lyon, CNRS, INRAE, INRIA, France. Talk: "Bracts in the bractless Arabidopsis thaliana".
